Four Paws One Direction was started in 2008 by dog training friends Shelley Jennings, Lynne Jones, and Kay Jennings in response to a demand for progressive dog training in the local area, and is now run by Shelley as her small business with a big heart.

Shelley has over 20 years of dog training experience and is constantly seeking new ideas to ensure training classes of the highest quality because every dog deserves the best.

Training your dog to do something is a fantastic way to build the bond between you and your canine friend. It also helps to provide him or her with the mental exercise needed to maintain a happy and contented state of mind.

We train using positive reinforcement as we believe it is the most effective way. To read more about why, click here.

My name is Shelley, and I am proud to run Four Paws One Direction, my small but professional and positive dog training business.

I have always had a huge love of dogs, and trained my first Agility dog at the tender age of 9. Since then I have been a regular competitor in Agility, as well as enjoying various other activities.

I absolutely love teaching dogs new things and am always delighted by their endless capacity for learning. I believe in building confidence and

independence in our dogs, and giving them the ability to think for themselves and problem solve. All my training methods are positive to ensure the learning process is fun for both dog and owner - there is never any need for the use of force, harsh handling or physical corrections in dog training in this modern age, and I pride myself on using the most up-to-date training methods available based on the latest scientific research and thought.

I am committed to the idea of continuous education and professional development, and am constantly seeking out new ideas to incorporate into my training classes.

I have achieved a Distinction in CAP1 and CAP2, the Clicker Trainer’s Competency Assessment Program, and have completed the COAPE Advanced Award in Canine Behaviour and Training. I also have a nationally recognised qualification in Teaching Adult Learners (PTTLS), and am one of a very small number of dog trainers to hold a formal teaching qualification. I regularly attend workshops with world renowned expert Kay Laurence of Learning About Dogs, and with Lauren Langman of Devon Dogs who is one of the finest Agility trainers and competitors in the UK.
